First look at Snow Canyon | Chloe & Brock

Updated: Apr 28, 2020

Ideas for your first look

Isn't Snow Canyon State park a Utah brides dream to have her formals and first look taken. As a Southern Utah Photographer this is my go to location in the winter months when I am not wanting to shoot in the snow. It is so beyond breathtaking.

What is the first look? In as few words as possible, the first look is where the groom sees the bride in her wedding gown for the first time. I am going to share a few of my favorite ways to achieve the perfect first look during your bridal session with me.

1. The Blind Fold. Typically before any first look I take the groom to our location, where the bride follows fairly close behind. When we get to our location I then blind fold the groom and the bride sneaks up behind him, taps on his shoulder and he is aloud to take off his blindfold and soak in his soon to be bride.

2. Why I love you. This is where I have bride and groom write a "letter" to each other before our shoot expressing what they love about the other person, why they are excited to marry them, and so forth. I then have the couple read them to each other back to back and when they are done they can turn around and embrace each other. Not only is this the SWEETEST and most TENDER way to start off a Utah Bridal session, but it allows for the couple to soak in the moment and hear things they may not have from their fiance that they may not have otherwise.
