Choosing a location for photos
As a southern Utah photographer I am obsessed with the variety of color that we get here in Southern Utah. I have said it time and time again, but we are INSANELY blessed to live by so many beautiful places. That being said there is more to a location than just it's beauty. Some locations can cast weird light, shadows, and color onto skin tones. Which is another reason why it is important to go with a professional photographer who knows the location they are shooting at.
So when choosing your location I always tell my clients to narrow it down to what type of location they want first. Whether it be evergreen trees, red rocks, dry land fields, you name it. After that I then show them a list of locations that I like to shoot at, and that I know the light and color will be perfect for their family pictures.
The Stoddard Family
First off, can I just tell you how much I love this family! Being a Utah Family photographer I love making new friends, as well as being apart of friends family pictures. And this family is one of my favorites!
Okay so the Stoddard family actually helped me find this location. But I went to the location ahead of time, checked for lighting, color reflection on skin, and weird shadow reflections. Red rocks are gorgeous, but oddly enough sometimes they can cast weird colors onto skin tones, but this location didn't. It was gorgeous and perfect for the most adorable family!
