As a Southern Utah family and portrait photographer, my favorite moments to capture and cherish are the candid ones. Creating candid poses can be tricky, but I am happy to share my best tricks! To me those are the photos that feel real life, and those are the photos the client will cherish forever. Yes, I love a good photo of everyone smiling at the camera, but the photos where kids are laughing, smiling, and being playful are key.

Creating those moments can feel intimidating, but probably my best advance for creating candid moments is "be quiet". That seems so simple, but I am telling you it works MAGIC! I love having my clients sit, stand, tickle, and then I will just be quiet for a good 5 minutes. Let them be themselves and see what unfolds in the silence!
