Cedar City Family Pictures | Wilhelm Family

These Cedar City Family Pictures were SO much fun to take, and I love how gorgeous the tones turned out! Such a great summer session. When Heather asked if we could take her family photos in Downtown Cedar City, I'm not going to lie I was SO excited! It was the first time I have shot family photos here, and I am so obsessed with how they turned out.

How to keep children happy and engaged during family photos:

In my opinion, as the photographer it is your job to keep the children happy and engaged. Kids, especially younger kids, can have a very small attention span, and let's be honest pictures are not a kids favorite thing. During your session watch for cues of boredom or when they start to be less engaged. When moments like this arise that when I love to play games. Not only does games with the family make for the most adorable photos, but it helps get the kids excited again.

Games I love playing with kids during my sessions are:

Red light green light
Tag around Mom and Dad
Tickle Mom or Dad

Just to name a few. Family photographers, don't be afraid to try something new. It is almost always during my "creative" times that I discover my favorite pose prompts.
