Posing Family of 5 | Mentor Session | Pena Family Photos

As a Cedar City Utah family photographer I wanted to share some of my tips and tricks on posing a family of 5 here in Southern Utah. From candid lifestyle poses, to everyone smiling I love to capture it all. These photos were actually taken during one of my photographer mentor sessions. Not only was it a windy and cold day in New Harmony with the adorable Pena family, but we didn't have a lot of time to keep the girls happy and warm. Oversharing is caring, so yes of course I added lots of photos from this gorgeous session ❤️

  1. I love to layer members of the family. Have Mom hold someone, throw another on Dad's shoulders and let everyone else stand. To me this adds more depth and layers and helps everyone get closer and on different levels that maybe they typically aren't usually on.

  2. Let Mom and Dad get on the kids level. I love to have Mom or Dad sit or kneel on the kids same level to get those up close and snuggly shots.

  3. During cold days I love to get every up close and snuggly or do lots of movement shots. this helps keep everyone warm and happy.

These are my top 3 tips and tricks for posing a family of 5. I hope you found them helpful. If you have any questions feel free to reach out!
