Cedar City Mountain | Fall Family Pictures

There is nothing more magical than Cedar City in the Fall. As a Southern Utah photographer the fall is my busiest time of year, and for good reason. Can we just talk about how gorgeous Cedar Mountain is in the fall?

I get asked a lot of questions when it comes to coordinating outfits for family photos. Here are some tips for coordinating outfits for your fall family pictures.

  1. Layer up: Fall can be chilly especially for little kiddos, so layering with tights, cardigans, boots, jackets and more is always a good idea! Plus I love adding a little more dimension to an outfit with some layers.

  2. Rule of 3: My biggest and best rule when it comes to coordinating outfits for family photos, is for every 3 people one person can be wearing a pattern. If too many people are wearing patterns it can cause chaos and distraction in your photos. This rule helps simplify and reduce that problem.

  3. Stick with neutrals: Fall colors usually tend to be bright and colorful, which is why I always suggest sticking with a neutral color palette. Too many bright colors can not only date themselves quickly, but they also make your photos feel chaotic.

Coordinating outfits for family photos can often feel chaotic and stressful. I hope these tips help, and happy family outfit styling ❤️
